Mélisande

Ensemble Mélisande’s founding members - Nicola Boag, Meret Fon-Revutzky and Carolina Gómez - met while completing post-graduate work at DePaul University’s School of Music in Chicago.  The three performed at many corporate and social events in and around Chicago and Milwaukee for several years, more recently expanding their performances to include concerts and recitals that showcase the group’s unique instrumentation.  Their large body of repertoire is not limited to pieces written for their particular instrumentation, however, the group regularly transcribes interesting and appropriate material from all musical genres and eras.    Avid supporters of new music, Ensemble Melisande encourages composers to write pieces for the group and often program 20th century masterpieces and new works alike.

The members of Ensemble Melisande have gained an international reputation as solo, chamber, and orchestral performers.  Audiences on four continents and countless U.S. states have heard these high caliber musicians play for concertizing groups and music festivals.  Here in Chicago, members of Ensemble Mélisande have performed in orchestras such as: the Civic Orchestra of Chicago; the Rockford Symphony; Illinois Philharmonic; and Concertante di Chicago.  At home in many genres, members have recorded for bands such as Belle and Sebastian and Head of Femur, but have also been heard on recordings for Accessible Contemporary Music’s weekly reading series.
